Nature Play Agreement

As part of the Good Beginnings program, carried out in the first 2 weeks of school, the R/1CT class visited the Nature Play area.  While the children had fun exploring the area, we also had a great discussion about using the area safely.  Our class came up with the following agreement, which we will follow when we are in the nature play area.

I can have fun

I can be friendly towards my peers

I can be safe with the loose parts (eg sticks and stones)

I can explore and investigate

I can respect the plants and animals

I can leave nothing but footprints.

Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students

Parent Information Evening

Thank you to all the parents/caregivers who were able to attend and support the Parent Information Evening on Monday evening.  It was wonderful to see such a large number of parents/carers in all our classes.  The teachers thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet with parents and discuss their learning focuses for the children this year and valued the opportunity to discuss parents’ questions about the year ahead.  If you were not able to attend, please make a time to meet with your child’s class teacher if you need to discuss anything further regarding your child’s learning programme this term.

Teachers will be using either the Seesaw or Dojo app to maintain communication with you throughout the year.

Parent/Teacher Learning Conferences

Later this term we will be holding parent/teacher Learning Conferences, so keep a space...

Just Leadership Day

Just Leadership Day

Caritas Australia runs Just Leadership Days to engage students with social justice issues, and to encourage them to be  just  leaders in their schools and in their communities, for both local and global change.

The purpose of Just Leadership Days is to enable students to challenge injustices, and to develop the leadership qualities to encourage others to do the same. Through hands-on activities and discussion, students learn global facts and explore the work of Caritas Australia.

“Just Leadership Days enable students to develop a respect for the poor and sense of responsibility as a global citizen. Students become more active in social justice activities in and out of school.”

OLQP School will be sending all of our senior leaders to this special day on Friday, March 1. Details of this event have been sent home to leaders’ families. However, if you have any queries, please contact me via email at abishop@olqp.catholic.edu.au or by phone on 8345 4036.

Police Checks & Amendments

Police Checks for Parents/Carers

Parents/carers have opportunities to participate in a myriad of school activities.  These may include working as a volunteer in the classroom, attending school excursions, coaching or supervising a sports team or attending as a volunteer at a school sports carnival.  Parents/carers must have a POLICE CHECK to participate in these activities.  Click read more for further information about some changes to the Police Check process.

Changes to Volunteer Police Checks

The Catholic Church in SA has recently foreshadowed changes to some of the arrangements relating to police checks for volunteers.  These changes are consistent with moves across South Australia to align the volunteer police checking process more closely with

School Attendance

Parents are advised that if your child will be absent during the school term for an extended period of time, eg family travel that a letter written to the Principal must be forwarded to the School Office advising of your child’s absence from school for an extended period of time.  It is a requirement that all students’ absences, particularly, are documented in student files.

School Board Information & Nominations

Dear Parent/Carer

We are looking for new members of our School Board this year.  This is a great way to contribute to the life of the school, particularly if you are not available during the school day to assist or attend school events.

I thank those parents who have already nominated for a position on the School Board.  We still have 3 more vacant places, so warmly encourage parents/carers to consider this opportunity.

There are no special skills required from our Board members, except a commitment to assist the school in managing its curriculum and financial commitments, where our shared wisdom provides the best opportunities for our students and families.

Please click here to access the nomination form.
