Goal Setting for Semester 2 - Year 5 LB

Setting Goals Helps Bring Our Dreams Into Reality!

Goals give us a direction to take.  They motivate us and guide us.  Goals take everything from our smallest hopes and wishes to our biggest dreams, and help them become reality.  In fact, the very act of goal setting takes us one step closer to achieving that goal.

Here are some of the questions asked of year 5 students to help them think through what goals meant for them.

~ Do you set yourself significant goals?  If yes, why?

~ If no, what stops you?

~ How do you set your goals?

~ What is your success rate at achieving them?

~ What gets in the way of success?

~ Which is more important to you: the journey or achieving the goal?

~ What motivates or demotivates you about goals at work?

~ Who sets your goals at work: you, others, or a collaboration?

~ What would you change?

These are the goals that Year 5 decided on for their ‘Reach to the Stars.”

Acting Principal's Message

Students in Years 3, 5 and 7 will soon be receiving their individual NAPLAN Results. As with any form of summative assessment (or testing), NAPLAN results demonstrate how a child performed on a given day in a structured context. This data is used together with other data, observations and assessments to gain a broad profile of your child’s strengths and areas of focus as a learner. Staff use this data to inform their teaching and to ensure that our strategies best support the areas of need identified by our school’s data. If you wish to discuss your child’s NAPLAN results, please make a time to meet with your child’s class teacher.

As part of Literacy and Numeracy Week our...

Students Returning in 2019

We are beginning to review and finalise enrolment numbers for 2019.

If your child is not returning to Our Lady Queen of Peace in 2019 and you have not advised the school yet, would you please advise the office as soon as possible to assist our 2019 planning.

As per our School Enrolment Policy, parents are required to give one term’s notice if their child is not returning to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School the following year.  Your help in this matter is appreciated. Thank you.

Children's University

Students from the Catholic North Western Community of schools have begun preparations to graduate from the Children’s University Programme.  We congratulate all students on achieving their many hours of activity across the year and celebrating their love of learning and extra curricula activities.  Next term’s ceremony will be a very memorable and meaningful celebration for students as we honour their community involvement, participation and engagement in a range of activities.  The Children’s University programme has now been operating for four years with outstanding success across all schools and indeed with many rewards and benefits for our students.

Our congratulations and best wishes to all of our graduating students.

Congratulations to our Festival Choir, who performed at the Entertainment Centre for the Catholic Schools Music Festival on Wednesday 12 September last week.  The choir, consisting of 31 students from years 5-7, prepared a selection of 10 songs to sing as part of the 400 strong combined choir for this year’s festival – a goal they had been working towards since Week 2, Term 1!  (Check out the gallery of festival pics in this article).

Thank you to all of the teachers and parents that attended the concert in support of the choir – it would not have been achievable without the support of music education at OLQP.

As of next year...
